A Turn of the Gem

Well it was only a matter of time until I did something like this after the whole Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond thing.

As it turns out, all of the stretching and shifting of his body that Steven did to try and appear older on his birthday had a rather… questionable effect. In returning to his normal state after getting stuck as a baby, he managed to shift the orientation of his gem, leading to a string of issues pertaining to his physical appearance. Trying to change things back only resulted in him shifting between a larger and more ‘fancy’ appearance, and back to the current one.

This, of course, ended up resulting in chaos. Almost everybody was confused as to what happened, and how Steven’s appearance changed as it did. The only one who seemed to have some amount of understanding was Pearl, who refused to say anything. Try as they might, they couldn’t get her to spill the beans.

She only relented enough when Steven, horribly distraught and confused, finally asked her. Pearl, unable to outright tell the truth, instead invited Steven into her gem to learn it himself. After some deep searching, Steven learned the truth of how his mother was actually someone else he never heard of. He had no idea who these ‘diamonds’ were.

Garnet, however, knew, and it led to her having a breakdown, causing her to almost split into Ruby and Sapphire. She was only able to keep it together upon realizing how much Steven was in need of help, and that she couldn’t afford to lose it at that moment.She would have to try and sort all of this out later.

Amethyst was just outright confused by the whole thing, as was Greg. Connie, though surprised and worried for her best friend, was amazed and thought his new look was really pretty.

Peridot? Well… she couldn’t really react to all of this due to having fainted.
